Looking for a last-minute hand-made gift idea to round out your holiday gifting list? Blogger Alexis Murphy draws inspiration from a holiday classic with this festive winter nosh.
It’s the most wonderful time of the year.
Christmas carols fill the air and finding that perfect gift is on everyone’s mind.
I love to combine the two for a festive present straight from Nat King Cole’s classic song.
Simple to put together and a fun, delicious activity—a gift doesn’t get better than that.
Packaged in a small box and topped with some jumbo matches for that open fire—sure to strike up a conversation…
Roasting chestnuts is easier than you might think. Start with rich, dark chestnuts, available at most grocery stores in the produce section. (Usually from late October to December.)
Slice slightly around the middle…
And roast over an open fire or in the oven. A cast iron skillet is perfect for this!
While still warm, carefully remove the shells…
Then chop to use in recipes or sprinkle with sea salt and enjoy right away.
Perfect with a gorgeous glass of La Crema Monterey Chardonnay.
Show up with this gift and everyone will go nuts!
