Superior winemaking and Thoroughbred horse racing come together at the Kentucky Derby – showcasing La Crema as the “Preferred Wine of the Kentucky Derby®”
Toast to New Beginnings
At first glance, there isn’t much overlap between the wine and horse racing industries, but for La Crema’s owners, the Jackson family, the two businesses have been lifelong passions that go hand in hand. Jess Jackson and Barbara Banke’s storied legacy in winemaking runs deep, and while many wine enthusiasts across the nation recognize La Crema as one of the pioneering wineries in Russian River Valley, the family’s endeavors in the elite horse racing world are lesser-known. Inspired by the world of horse racing, Jackson ignited a life-long dream in 2005, when he and Banke established Stonestreet Farm on premium farmland in the famous bluegrass hills of Lexington, Kentucky. Since then, Stonestreet Farm has celebrated many accomplishments. They are considered one of the top breeding stables in the United States. As Barbara says, “Our winemaking reputation is built on a vision that through a commitment to excellence, hard work, and integrity, you can accomplish great things. Not only do we embrace these ideals as the backbone of our wine business, but also our approach to Thoroughbred horse racing. To bring two of our greatest passions together on the global stage at the Kentucky Derby is monumental for us, and we couldn’t be happier to be partners with Churchill Downs.”
As the preferred wine, La Crema will be poured at all events leading up to the most exciting two minutes in sports. The attendees of the Run for the Roses will be able to enjoy award-winning whites and reds produced from La Crema’s illustrious vineyards—and so can you, even if you can’t make it to the race!
Celebrate at Home
Order La Crema’s special Kentucky Derby Wine Pack that includes the Russian River Valley Sparkling Brut Rosé, 2019 Russian River Valley Chardonnay, and 2018 Russian River Valley Pinot Noir, then sip the wine while watching the race. The trio is $115 and $92 for members.
We’re also offering a special Derby-themed Meal-to-Go. On Friday, April 30, and Saturday, May 1, stop by La Crema to pick up a Southern spread of savory pork, collard greens, grits, pimento cheese, and more. Meals are $50 and generously serve two, so why not host your own Kentucky Derby celebration at home?
But that’s not all: anyone who walks away with a to-go meal will be entered in our Kentucky Derby sweepstakes*. There are various surprises, but the grand prize is two tickets to Kendall-Jackson’s 2022 Kentucky Derby Celebration. You won’t want to miss this fantastic fete!
